What is the Community Fund?
The Community Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit which raises money
to support its agencies each year through its Annual Campaign
each fall and its Golf Outing each spring. During the fall Annual
Campaign, member agencies support The Community Fund’s
efforts to raise funds for all the agencies and agree not to
solicit the community during this period. The Golf Outing registration
begins in January.
Why a Community Fund?
Since our founding in 1919, the mission of The Community Fund
has been to support qualified agencies that provide many vital
services within Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe. These
essential services help thousands of our neighbors each year,
frequently at little or no expense to those least able to
pay. These agencies rely on the support of the Fund.
The Community Fund is largely staffed and administered by
members of our own communities volunteering their time and
talents. Expenses are kept as low as possible as a result
of the work of these volunteers. Your donation to The
Community Fund is a direct investment in the quality of life
in your community. It truly is "local giving for local needs."
Does my contribution stay in our community?
Yes. The mandate of The Fund is to link the support of the
community with the greatest needs locally. We target our support
exclusively to programs and agencies that serve our neighborhoods.
Our ongoing work with each agency helps insure we understand
where each dollar goes and how it meets a local need. Last
year, approximately 60% of the total
Fund grants supported agencies serving the three communities
combined, while the remaining 40% of total Fund grants was
relatively evenly split among agencies serving the individual
communities of Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe.
What needs do we have?
The need for services and support cuts across all social and
economic segments. And these needs often occur unexpectedly
during times of financial or physical hardship. Whether it
is services for the aging, our youth or families in crisis,
The Community Fund agencies are meeting an increasing need
for their services right here in our own communities.
Where does my contribution go?
The Community Fund volunteers work directly with each of the
21 programs and 7 projects we support to insure that our giving
is invested within our own neighborhoods. The Fund works with
each agency throughout the year providing counsel as well
as financial support. We know the agencies and the important
work they do.
How can I help beyond my contribution?
Join us! Volunteer to join in with your neighbors and become
a part of The Community Fund team. We have opportunities to
contribute in areas such as fundraising, administration and
